The Agri-Cultura Cooperative Network (ACN) in partnership with La Cosecha Community Supported Agriculture is hiring a Kitchen Crew Member. La Cosecha CSA is a food access project of the Agri-Cultura Network, a food hub that aggregates produce year-round from 70+ small scale farms located in the state of New Mexico. ACN and La Cosecha CSA operate out of the South Valley Economic Development Center in an FDA certified commercial kitchen space. The produce is processed, washed and packed for customers that range from restaurants, hospitals, senior centers, schools, grocery stores, and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.
The kitchen crew members work closely with management to fulfill weekly orders to our customers. The position involves processing, washing and packing produce based on orders, delivering orders (if necessary), and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen and walk-in each day.
Important Details:
Anticipated start date: August 20th / as soon as possible
Seasonal (until November) with potential to extend
Hours: ~30 - 40 hours/ week
Compensation: $15/hour + weekly veggies
What we’re looking for:
The kitchen is a fast paced environment and crew members are responsible for washing and packing hundreds of pounds of produce each week. The ideal applicants will possess:
A positive attitude.
Valid drivers’ license
Dependability, responsibility, honesty, and integrity
Basic math skills
Ability to stand for the entirety of the work shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull heavy objects
Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel
Knowledge of or interest in learning about local produce & food access
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Willingness to work as a team player
Good personal hygiene to comply with food safety standards
Ability to interact in a professional manner with fellow staff and with farmers and buyers
Ability to keep workstation organized and efficient
Proficiency in problem solving
Time management: ability to keep up with a fast-paced washing and packing schedule
Interpersonal skills
Proficiency in written communication
Ability to clearly mark logs and label produce in English
Proficiency in verbal communication
Ability to identify tasks in need of completion and take initiative to complete them
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience working with produce at grocery stores or co-ops and familiarity with produce washing and quality control
Bi-Lingual Spanish/English
